TURTLES*BEACH*SUSHI, OH MY!

Thank you, John Diedam, for making it a PERFECT day to turn 65!  First, and most importantly, a FaceTime call with these two!  Jonathan, we’ll see you on Sunday!

Next, back to Nusa Dua for a visit to the Turtle Conservation Centre!  These folks do a wonderful service for the turtles in the Bali area!

We watched a couple of videos when we first arrived, one on the journey a turtle made back to the beach where it was born, to lay its’ eggs.  A difficult feat, to be sure.  The next video talked about the Hindu rituals that involved turtles.  Thankfully, great strides have been made to eliminate most of these rituals or, at least, to change the outcome to the RELEASE of the turtles.  WHEW!

And then we met the turtles, each with its’ own sad story, but luckily, most with happy endings.  The majority of these turtles are scheduled to be released back to the aqua waters SOON!

These Conservation Centres throughout Bali are big on collecting turtle eggs, burying them in their protected sand pits, letting them hatch, and keeping them for several days to get stronger before releasing them into the water.  When it is in season, and they have babies, you can adopt one and set it free with the others!  Would that not be AMAZING?  Unfortunately, they had no babies to adopt at the moment.

We loved every second of the Conservation Centre visit!  Then off we drove to the Ayodya Beach Resort for a day by the water!  Oh my goodness, what a magical place!

It was the perfect day to be beaching it!  The water was warm, aqua blue and very inviting!

And then we moved poolside with our bucket of Prost beer!

Dinner was at Ayodya’s Japanese Restaurant (my choice!) for SUSHI and SUSHIMI!  It was wonderful!

Six Japanese ladies came in singing “Happy Birthday To You” and bearing a piece of chocolate cake!  You’ll have to take my word for it as John videotaped it, but forgot to press “Record”!  🙄

TURTLES*BEACH*SUSHI...yes, it was the PERFECT DAY to turn 65!  And thanks, friends and family, for all of your birthday wishes!  I truly appreciate EACH and EVERY one of you! 😘😘😘

Sandy, it’s been in the high 80’s—warm in the sun; cool in the shade. More humid here than the other countries we’ve been in, but, overall, not bad!
