NUSA DUA FOR THE DAY!
It was a FaceTime kind of morning today! First, we had a “Welcome To Medicare“ toast with Patte and Mike! And then, of course, a second toast to them booking FLORIDA again next year!!! CHEERS, Mike and Patte!
Then we caught up with Diane! (Oops, we should have gotten a picture! Next time, Diane!) We decided to Grab it to Nusa Dua for the day! Thanks, Gill, for the recommendation!
The park area was nice to walk around! And we FINALLY saw water! (Nusa Dua beaches come highly recommended for snorkeling!) Our plan, of course, is to come back! Maybe we’ll see that water blow yet! And they have a turtle Conservation Centre as well!!!
These cracked us up as well—mini gas stations along the sidewalks! We guess they beat those Coke bottles full of gas in Cambodia!
Earlier in the day, we made reservations for dinner at the Art Cafe, which came highly recommended by Gill! (Thanks, Gill!)
After all that street walking, the first thing we did was head upstairs (why are all the restrooms in Bali restaurants upstairs?) to wash our hands. Will you LOOK at those steps! (LOVE)

This was the very first sign that we saw in town! (This one’s for YOU, Matt! 🤣)
Our driver dropped us off at Bali Connection, which is a tropical paradise of beachfront resorts, darling shops and a vast array of restaurants! Call it home to the Rich and Famous! (Obviously, we have really bad lighting in our bathroom. That’s the reason for such a BAD HAIR DAY!) Oh Val, where art thou?!!!
John chose the White Orchid for his lunch destination. I chose Waterblow as our first destination after lunch. (Should have spent a bit more time researching before that decision was made!)
So, did you see where the video ended? That rock formation is where you used to be able to stand (oops, it’s now under construction) and, when it is high tide (oops, we were there at low tide), water comes spraying out BIG TIME! It is SUPPOSED to look like this...
Water Blow in Nusa Dua!

Nice sentiment written on this statue! It read, “All people in the World are brothers.”
Hinduism was alive and well in Nusa Dua! Offerings were EVERYWHERE! Luckily, we had a taxi driver, named Neuman, that spoke pretty good English. He answered several of our questions.
1. Yes, there are more decorations than usual, as the Hindu people are preparing for the holiday Nyepi on March 25. (Now THAT is going to be interesting!) 2. The temples are black in Bali because they are very, very old.
We also found some interesting reading on Hinduism here: Balinese Religion. It is all so FASCINATING and we still have SO MUCH to learn! But learn we will!
John and I couldn’t stop laughing as we meandered through this lineup of roosters! (And then Neuman had to go and spoil the moment for us by explaining what they were used for. 😳) Never mind, you DO NOT want to know!

The restaurant boasted that it served Balinese food that is typically made in the home.
So John and I ordered THIS...it was ALMOST like we forgot Matt and Val had left and ordered for FOUR!!! (OOPS!)
We powered through that delicious food like there was no tomorrow! It was every bit as good as Gill had promised! We also met Fabian, the son (of the owner) who manages Art Cafe. He was a DELIGHT!
On a side note....
Unfortunately, we are all currently being plagued by the news on the Coronavirus. However, IF these stats are correct, don’t they kind of put things in perspective?
