KUTA BEACH, INDONESIA!

I woke up WAY TOO EARLY this morning, however, loved every early minute in our peaceful little tropical paradise!

When John woke up, he discovered his bread was moldy!  OH NO!  Very quickly it was high time to walk down our street (alley), where we passed a delightful little bird out sunning himself, to go find a proper breakfast!

BINGO!  He found his proper breakfast! 🤪

During breakfast, we decided it was a good day to go scout out the Kuta Beach area.  (We are trying to find a good snorkeling beach.)  Top on my list was a visit to the Bali Sea Turtle Conservation Center!  Grab dropped us off at the Kuta Beach Main Gate.  We nearly got run over, but we finally succeeded in getting our picture (sans cars) with the gorgeous water of the Indian Ocean in the background!

The water looked AMAZING and the general feel of the area was Island FUN!

We made it to the Turtle Conservation Centre only to be told, “Closed until 4:00PM.”  Say WHAT?  My last minute research skills need to improve QUICKLY!

The beach area had a promenade to walk along, where we could easily watch the surfers as well as be harassed by all the local vendors!  It wasn’t half bad—I got a partial massage by a woman trying to convince me I needed a massage!  The view was nothing short of spectacular!  My mind kept repeating one thing over and over...why oh why were we NOT in our bathing suits?

Once the promenade ended, we took to the streets!  First stop was Hard Rock Cafe, so that John could expand his wardrobe yet again!  We LOVED the sights along those streets!  Jelly shots, anyone?

No Tuk Tuk’s in Bali, but look what we found by the water’s edge!

Our second stop was to Bali’s Ground Zero.  When we read about it, it said the memorial commemorated the 2002 bombing.  It didn’t register at first.  Then all of a sudden we remembered the tragic nightclub Bali bombing.  The memorial was beautiful and held a plaque with the names of the victims.  Seven Americans lost their lives that fateful morning.

Our intent was to stay until 4:00 and see the turtles, HOWEVER, it was HOT and we were both yearning for the cool water of our pool back at the villa!  So, Kuta, we shall return!  Next time we will be in bathing suits and next time we will come when Bali Sea Turtle is open!

John picked up our laundry and a To Go dinner and came back for our first night in since leaving on this adventure!  It was the PERFECT evening to just sit back and enjoy a tropical rain storm!  (Jon and Jas, you would have LOVED IT!)
