IT IS WHAT IT IS....
We woke up this morning to the news that our President is urging all Americans traveling abroad to come back to the USA as quickly as possible. And our dear friend, Jeff, who is a more seasoned traveler than John, texted us this message, “John, can’t tell you why, but it might be a good idea to cancel and come home quickly.”
It is what it is....
John (bless his heart) immediately set up Grand Central and began looking into cancelling all of our original flights and figuring out our new ones. And he did it! IF (and we realize this is a BIG IF) everything goes smoothly (🤣🤣🤣) we are leaving tonight on a 9:45PM flight to Singapore. Then we leave Singapore Sunday morning and fly to San Francisco and then SF to Indianapolis.
We have heard MANY stories about long lines at the airports and through immigration, cancelled flights, mandatory quarantines, the list goes on and on! We know there will be hiccups along the way, but we will SOON be on our way back to the good old US of A!
We’ll keep you abreast on what we experience on our journey home. And to our family and friends throughout the world—we are thinking of you all and praying you stay safe and healthy!
UPDATE: When we got to the airport tonight (it was a ZOO) and checked in, the counter agent told us we would be quarantined for two weeks in Singapore! Apparently there was too much time between our arrival flight into Singapore and our departure flight out of Singapore to San Francisco. We got out of line and John tried calling United to try to rebook an earlier flight out of Singapore. The wait time was like FOREVER!!! All of a sudden he jumped back into the line and said, “I’ll try rebooking this flight to tomorrow night!” And he did! So, IF the flight tomorrow doesn’t get cancelled, this just may work! Meanwhile, we’re spending the night at the Hilton by the airport! We are EXHAUSTED and we haven’t even left yet! 🤣🤣🤣
There are A LOT of REALLY stressed people at the Bali airport (and we’re sure in airports all over the world) right now. Please say a prayer for them (and us🤣) as they (we🤣) navigate their (our 🤣) way HOME.
