BALI BURN REALLY IS A THING! OH, AND SO IS UBUD!

It rained ALL.NIGHT.LONG and it was AMAZING!  We are in our own little tropical paradise!

So then Bali Belly woke up and and we quickly renamed her Bali BURN! 😳😳😳  It seemed that sitting (in the shade) of a beach umbrella was no guarantee against sunburn! OUCH!

Chef John made an exceptional breakfast where the decision was made: NO BEACH TODAY!

So off we went to Ubud, Indonesia, about an hour and a half Grab ride away!  Bali BURN 1 and Bali BURN 2 sure were good sports!  OUCH!

We IMMEDIATELY fell in LOVE with Ubud!  The town was a tropical oasis with tons of shops and cafes and shops and cafes and shops and cafes (get the picture)?  It had a hippy kind of feel and WAS.SO.MUCH.FUN!

We stopped for lunch at a place called OOPS and there wasn’t anything OOPS about it!  The food was EXCELLENT and our street facing seats were PERFECT for people watching!

We were so surprised to find Donald relaxing in the market in Ubud!

As a matter of fact, it seemed that he was everywhere we looked!

Val and I voted the shop called Pina Colada as our very favorite!  Not only was the store beautiful, but the jewelry inside was unique as well as AFFORDABLE!

Off the beaten path, Ubud had unbelievably gorgeous and tranquil swimming pools that you could enjoy for the day for a nominal fee.  They were beautiful to look at, but Bali BURN 1 and Bali BURN 2 just weren’t ready to commit!!!  🤣🤣

The shops and the Art Market were AMAZING, however, when we saw this sign we got REALLY excited!

We arrived at Monkey Park, decided not to actually go in, but watched the monkeys outside.  They were ADORABLE and HYSTERICAL!

Ubud definitely had our hearts, until.....

the TAXI GESTAPO started following us throughout town!  SERIOUSLY!  All we were trying to do was book Grab (probably a bit too obviously—but who knew?) back to Seminyak!  You would have thought we were trying to steal a monkey!  It was COMICAL, to say the least!  John and Matt were DETERMINED not to pay a taxi double the rate of Grab!

To make a long story short, we finally OUTSMARTED THE TAXI GESTAPO and got a Grab from Ubud to Bangkok (the restaurant), where we enjoyed yet another delicious dinner!

Oh what a fabulously FUN and FUNNY day!  We were almost afraid to call it a night.  First Bali BELLY, then Bali BURN....what could possibly be in store for Matt and Val TOMORROW?
