YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS!
Our morning started out as a typical Tuesday in KL! There was a gentle breeze flowing in our open doors, the sun was beginning to peek over the tall buildings, and we could hear the wonderful hum of the train passing by.
I can tell you this, the “typical” part of our day ended there! John and I decided that it might be nice to take in the Botanical Garden, the Orchid Garden and the Butterfly Garden. Our driver dropped us off at what would seem to be the park entrance.

We walked this way and that way and couldn’t find the gardens! We even walked through the Botanical Garden Gift Shop, and couldn’t find the the actual gardens! Signs, people, signs! We were told to walk down a sidewalk, then turn right, then turn right. We found it at long last!
After walking around for about forty-five minutes, we both decided we were underwhelmed and decided to turn around. It quite possibly could have been the HOT temperatures and the SWEAT that was dripping down our faces and into our eyes that made everything seem underwhelming but, hey, we were DYING of heat prostration! (If you look closely, there is a BIG lizard in the pix below. Now THAT was something to see!)
We ordered up another Grab and soaked up the air con! (Can you spell RELIEF?) And here’s where our day took a turn that was NOT typical! The driver took us to the Berjaya Time Square shopping center. We hopped out, and when I went to hand my phone to John to end the Grab ride, it wasn’t in my purse! It took me a moment to really look through my purse, my pockets — NO PHONE! John took off running after the car while I stood in front of the mall just in case the driver realized my phone was left and came around to give it to me. Neither John nor I had any luck! John went in the mall to use the WiFi to contact Grab—every phone number that was listed just rang through. I stayed outside waiting, just in case!
For those of you that have NEVER lost your phone, you cannot imagine the horror of it! For those of you that have lost your phone, can you feel my PAIN? Finally, John was able to text Grab and explain what happened and got the Pat answer of, “We’ll get back to you within 24 hours.”
We walked around a bit, had a late lunch, and decided to go home and try to get a hold of someone at Grab. Once we got back, John worked on Grab and I was going to check out where to purchase an iPhone in KL without a contract when I saw the “Where’s my iPhone?” button on my iPad. I didn’t think it could possibly work because I had put a local SIM card in my phone while we were in KL. But I tried it. Would you believe it asked me if the KL cell number was correct! I pushed “yes” and would you believe it found my phone across town from where we are staying!!! We could not believe it! When I pushed a button that said it was lost, Apple Pay was immediately shut down, my phone was locked, and a message came up that had me fill in my details:

I’m really not sure who all to thank! We thanked our Grab driver, of course. But Apple and Verizon— WOWOHWOW! The “Find My Phone” works like a charm, even when you are halfway around the world!
WE STILL CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT! CAN YOU?

Several minutes later, John’s cell rang. It was our Grab (Chinese) driver, but John couldn’t understand anything he said! But he had my phone! A couple minutes later, John’s phone rang again. This time it was a Chinese woman who spoke enough English that John could understand her!
She texted John their address, we ordered another Grab, and about thirty minutes later we were reunited with our original Grab driver AND MY PHONE!
