RAINED IN!
We had high hopes when we woke up this morning!
Despite the beautiful sunrise, the weather prediction for the day was rain, a whole lot of rain! π³ Once it started, mixed with thunder and lightening, Jonathan opted out of going to Batu Caves! Instead, we decided to stay in, relax, and watch a movie!
Then off to the Songei Wang Mall, once again, to pick up Jon’s glasses. They hadn’t arrived to the store yet due to the storms! π³ But the guy, who had helped Jonathan, told us he would deliver them to our condo later that night! How do you like that for service? Jonathan snacked on some Sushi (OMG, it looked sooo good), which he said was DELICIOUS and CHEAP! (Remember to divide by four!)
We had booked a Selangor Firefly Tour, but figured it would definitely be cancelled as it continued to pour. We spoke with the tour guide who assured us it was still on. He actually picked us up at the mall, which gave Jon time to buy some souvenirs!
The ride to Kuala Selangor took about an hour and, would you believe, the rain was over by the time we arrived! Our first stop was TO FEED THE MONKEYS! Oh my gosh, it was SO MUCH FUN! Be prepared for monkey pictures, people! No one can have too many monkey pictures, right?
There were two kinds of monkeys running around. First, the Silver Leaf Monkeys...
And, second, the Long Tail Macau’s....
Just look at these pictures! The monkeys were sooo friendly! I know, I know, we had food for them, BUT STILL! π€£π€£π€£
But THIS, oh my goodness, THIS was just hysterical! Because John held a bag of food, the monkeys ADORED him! Let’s just say, the feelings were NOT mutual!
When our bags were empty, and the monkeys were somewhat full...
...our tour guide, Charlie (Exotic Asia Holidays), drove us to the river where we each enjoyed a BIG bottle of Tiger beer, rice, chili crab, sweet and sour fish, vegetables and fried shrimp! DELICIOUS!!!
After a wonderful dinner, we boarded a boat for a ride down the Kuala Selangor River to see the Selangor fireflies.
It was amazing to see all the twinkling lights throughout the mangroves! But what was really special was hearing the comments made by all the people in the boat that had never seen a firefly before—they were mesmerized! You have to remember, John, Jonathan and I were brought up in the Midwest where we caught lightning bugs at dusk and put them in jars to watch them light up. We’ve seen them, we’ve held them, and we’ve caught them! But this certainly WAS a first for the three of us, riding in a boat down a Malaysian river watching the largest colony of fireflies light up the mangroves!
(That was the best video of the night! Thanks, Jonathan!)
Yes, we were RAINED IN earlier in the day, but we were so thankful it cleared up for a memorable evening!
