IT’S ALWAYS AN ADVENTURE!

It’s always an adventure when Dieds is at the helm!  He spent the morning looking through various issues of Time Out magazine online and decided that Pekanbaru Sungai Besi would be our first destination of the day.  And so it was!

Time Out mentioned several “Must Sees” in this area, and John wrote them down on a list.  There were five in total.  We found three out of the five!  The first was a Farmer’s Market of sorts. Much like the ones we frequent in Sarasota and St. Pete—NOT!

The second place on the list was Cheong Him Trading.  We are not quite sure why it made the list!

The third place We finally found was the Apam Balik Stall.  While the food they were serving looked good, John decided not to risk it!

We only missed two things on the list— “Something Something Thong” and a temple that was supposed to be on the edge of town.  No one we asked had a clue about either!  It could have been John’s pronunciation (or lack thereof), or it could have been his handwriting.  Either way, we got out of Dodge before completing our mission!  Thanks anyway, Time Out!

The most interesting thing we found in the town was this store!  Ha!  Ya gotta love it!

Next on the agenda was Julan Alor Street, which apparently used to be the red light district in KL.  It cleaned up its’ act and is now one massage shop after another!

We chose this one, and I am so glad we did!  I have LOVED every massage I’ve gotten so far, but this one was the BEST EVER!  OMG!

My legs were certainly in their “Happy Place” after that hour massage!  I can’t wait until tomorrow cuz we are returning for another one!  Woohoo!  After searching for a while, we finally found Julang Alor Street Art.

And then Hutong in Lot 10.  Apparently some of the best street vendors are invited to sell their delicious food inside.  We had Happy Hour here with some egg rolls and a beer!  YUM!

We chose to go to the Japanese wing as John wanted a Hot Pot for dinner!  It was delicious!

Finally, we made it to Julang Alor Street filled with food vendors!  It was UNBELIEVABLE!  Next time, we’re coming HUNGRY!

Oh what a day!  Yup, it’s always an adventure when Dieds is at the helm!
