GENTING HIGHLANDS

Everything we have been to thus far has literally been no more than 15 minutes from our condo!  But we grabbed our Grab (Uber) and headed northeast about an hour away to Getting Highlands Resort World Hotel & Casino.  We really didn’t know what to expect, but our main purpose in going was for the casino!  We certainly DIDN’T expect this!

When we arrived we were in complete fog, a good THIRTY degrees cooler than what we were used to (BRRRR!), and at an elevation of 6,100 feet!  Who knew?

We immediately found the Casino and were ready to gamble to our heart’s content!  But it wasn’t long before we all realized that A. There was no one available who spoke good enough English to help us navigate the machines, and B. When you don’t know what you are doing, you can lose money quickly!

So we opted to explore a bit and locate someplace where I could buy a sweatshirt!  Did I mention it was COLD at that elevation?  One $13.00 sweatshirt later and I was in business! The hotel, we discovered, is the LARGEST in the WORLD, boasting 7,351 rooms!

We enjoyed a tasty buffet lunch and caught a bus that was heading a ways downhill to Chin Swee Caves Temple, a Taoist temple in Getting Highlands.  It was AMAZING!  Okay, so here’s where “a picture is worth a thousand words” comes into play! (Just a warning, people!)

When we arrived back to the resort after our temple tour, we discovered what an AMAZING place Getting Highlands really is!  There is something for everyone there.

There was a really cool virtual reality “ride” called Void that Jas and Chloe decided to try!  That gave John and I a chance to go, sit down, and enjoy a Tiger beer and some appetizers!

They LOVED the Void! We caught a glimpse of them before they went in!  It looked pretty cool!

There are tons of fabulous looking restaurants throughout the resort. We opted on Vietnamese for our last dinner together! The Pho was delicious and the rice paper rolls were out of this world!

By the time we left the resort, it was in the low 60’s and when we were back at our condo it was back in the high 80’s!  A great day (but minimal gambling) was had by all at Getting Highlands!
