COUNT THEM!

For any of you disbelievers out there, COUNT THEM!

ONE. TWO.  THREE.  FOUR.

FOUR white plastic loungers for the occupants of three tall high rises to share!
Needless to say, I wasn’t one of the FOUR lucky ones today.  But I was able to snag this chair which, if I’m being totally honest, was in the shade most of the time I was poolside! 🙄🙄🙄

I enjoyed a few hours IN the pool today savoring the sunshine while John had lunch with Ken (who we had dinner with last week).  I met a young lady, a high school teacher, who was on holiday from Australia.  She was delightful and filled me in on the horrible fires that Australia is battling at the moment.  So, so sad.  For any of you knitters — there is a desperate need for knitted pouches for the orphaned kangaroos. 😢😢😢

The church we attended tonight was located way south and was called Sacred Heart.  We’re not sure what the area was called, but it was about a half hour from us.  We arrived early, so we walked around a bit.  It was a simple, modest church.

It reminded John and I of St. Mary’s in Dubai, with this open courtyard.

In back of the church  were little shanty’s — extreme poverty was very close by.

The church soon filled with people of all nationalities — John and I were the only two representing the USA!  We were like the ONLY white folk in there!  COUNT THEM...

The congregation fully participated in the mass and sang their hearts out!  There were multiple altar boys and the priest was super engaging.

Afterwards, while we were waiting for our ride, a young couple came up, introduced themselves and proceeded to explain to us that the (infamous) train was a block away and that most stores open later on Chinese New Year.  They were adorable and wanted to know where we were from and all about our trip!  Another example (COUNT THEM) showing that the hospitality here in KL is AMAZING!

This is Betsy!  We received communion from her.  I told John after church, “That woman who handed out communion looked me straight in the eye and had the biggest smile on her face!”  She suddenly appeared outside — I just had to get a picture with her, as she literally made my day!

I have to confess, even though we are surrounded by the most spectacular Asian food known to man, we opted to have a steak dinner down under tonight.  I am so ashamed!
