A DAY TRIP TO MELAKA!

We woke up to NO SUNSHINE for the first time all month!  We checked the forecast, which called for rain all day long.  Armed with umbrellas, we headed to the TBS (bus station), where we booked a bus to Melaka!  We’ve done airplanes, commuter trains, taxis, country trains, Grabs, and rapid city trains—we thought it was high time to try a bus ride!

Two hours later, we arrived in Melaka, Malaysia!  We saw a LOT!!!

1.  Melaka’s Christ Church, Queen Victoria’s Fountain in Dutch Square:

2. Stadthuys:

We grabbed a quick lunch (Jonathan chalked Laksa off his list of “Must Try” meals) before continuing our tour!

3. Melaka’s Trishaws:  (This one’s for you, Jas and Chloe!)

4. Kota Melaka:

6. Melaka’s River Walk:

9. Cheng Hoon Teng Temple:

What an AMAZING place!  We really didn’t have enough time to see and experience everything Melaka has to offer!  Next time, we’d like to take a river cruise, go up in the Menara Taming Sari, walk the hill to St. Paul’s Church and, most importantly, go to The Huskitory and the Woof Station!  (OMG!). How did we not have time for those?  (The Huskitory, BTW, was closed on Mondays. 😢).  And, to top off a great day, we didn’t have a drop of rain all day!

At the end of our day, we found out ALL BUSES BACK TO KL WERE SOLD OUT!  We opted to take Grab, but no drivers were available!  Apparently, it was the last day of the Chinese New Year (DUH, so THAT is why the place was jammed pack—it was the final day of a three day holiday).  We FINALLY got a Grab driver, and what SHOULD have been an hour and 45 minute ride home took OVER four hours! 😳😳😳  Believe me when I say, NEXT TIME I’ll listen to John!  (He wanted to prebook our bus ride home, and I said, “But we don’t know how long we’ll want to stay!  Let’s just book it later!)  It will be fine!”  Lesson learned! 🤣🤣🤣
